About Dr. Nagesh

Three decades spent helping young people grow.

Dr. V J Nagesh has spent his career in classrooms and school corridors — as a teacher, a Principal for eighteen years, a career counsellor and a mentor to thousands of students and their families.

He holds doctorates in Physics and in Education, along with a D.Litt. and a D.Sc., and has been recognised with more than 150 national and international honours — including a TEDx platform and a commemorative postage stamp issued by the Department of Posts, Government of India. But the work that matters most to him has always been the quiet, one-to-one kind: helping a nervous student choose a path, steadying a worried parent, turning "I can't" into "not yet."

Empowering minds, inspiring excellence, transforming education.

His guidance blends practical career direction with the everyday psychology of focus, confidence and emotional strength — the same ideas he writes about for young readers. Sessions are calm, honest and grounded in real experience, never lectures.

The Approach

The approach for building resilience for students, for high performance in academics and in life.

Much of what weighs a young person down isn't the event itself — it's the story they tell themselves about it. The work is learning to change that story, in three plain steps.

Step 01

Catch the story

Notice the thought running underneath the feeling, and say it plainly — so it can be looked at, instead of just felt.

Step 02

Question it

Ask it a few honest questions. Is it helping? Is it true, or a guess? Is it really as big as it feels?

Step 03

Rewrite it

Replace it with a story that is truer and kinder — not a fake cheerful one, just a steadier place to stand.

Change Your Story, Change Your Life — Dr. V J Nagesh

First Edition · September 2026

Change Your Story, Change Your Life

A student’s guide to facing life’s everyday challenges, with a calm and clear mind.

One event, four people, four completely different feelings — the same missed hello on the same street. So the feeling never came from the event. It came from the story each person told themselves about it. That single idea runs through the whole book.

Written for school students, each chapter drops the reader into one ordinary, familiar moment — a party they weren't invited to, an unanswered message, a wrong answer in class — and shows, step by step, how to catch the story running underneath, question it honestly, and rewrite it into something truer and kinder. Grounded in real cognitive science, it never preaches positive thinking; it teaches a method the reader can use for life.
